Naturists - Capricho beach In Cayo Largo, the practice of nudism is a common and well accepted thing since many years. That is why many naturists return back to this island year after year to enjoy one of the rare places in the Carribean where beaches are clothing optional AND where you won't spend a fortune for your vacation. In most french island (St-Martin, Guadeloupe, etc.) there are also some C.O. beaches but a vacation in the french Caribbean islands is much more expensive than Cayo Largo.

Cayo Largo is an ideal place for someone who wants to experience naturism for the fist time, because of the 3 following reasons:

  • There are many miles of desert beaches.
  • It's a common thing, many tourists do it, therefore most people are used to see nudists on the beach, or they get used to it very soon.
  • There are no gawkers. Since there are no permanent settlement at Cayo Largo, you won't see people hiding in the bushes to observe the naturists!
  • Although nudism is tolerated on the beaches, it is strongly recommended not to do it at the center of Playa Sirena and on the beaches just in front of the hotels except in front of Villa Capricho where many naturists gather. At the Capricho, it is also common to see people nude around their cabana or walking from the cabanas down to the beach (particularly for the ones at the East side of the complex). However, nudism is not permited around the pool, bar or restaurant.

In front of the other 6 hotels, many women go topless but there is no complete nudity, especially just in front of the Hotel Pelicano which is the most "crowded" section of the beach. However, there is a good proportion of naturists at the extreme eastern part of the Pelicano beach where one can take advantage of the lounge chairs and palapas (beach umbrella) of the hotel. At Playa Paraiso and beaches on the East side of the hotel resort (Playa Blanca, Playa Los Cocos et Playa Tortuga) no problem for naturism because these beaches have no hotels and are deserted. It's possible for naturists to take long walks from the Pelicano going west all the way to Playa Paraiso and then Playa Sirena where it is recommended to put back your bathing suit when approching the crowed part of the beach where tourists from Varadero come for the day.
